Viento y agua muelen pan
viento y agua.

Y la tierra pone el trigo
Y el fuego dora la hornada.

Tierra, fuego,
viento y agua.

From my summery sketches

For different reasons, my painting activity has not been so intense during this summer as it was other years. Nevertheless, I have drafted a few sketches from "La Moraña", an area in Castilla where I usually spend the summer months. There are not large water bodies in "La Moraña" -there are not many water bodies indeed- but in some corners you will find how a small lagoon, a stream, or a pond, change their surroundings. Here you are one of the sketches, maybe the first step towards a forthcoming picture. Besides, let me bring you the short poem "Elemental" (Elementary), written by Dámaso Alonso. In some manner, I feel the flavour of Castilla in this poem:

Wind and water grind wheat for baking,
wind and water.

The earth provides with the wheat,
And the fire browns the batches.

Earth, fire,
wind and water.

The flavour increases if you listen to this "Villanesca", one of the twelve spanish dances composed by Enrique Granados. Alicia de Larrocha plays the piano.
