En estos tiempos de logreros, trepadores y triunfadores falsarios (en definitiva, de políticos de cualquier signo y en cualquier ámbito), quiero recordar a estos explotadores, siniestros personajes, que su bienestar está basado en el esfuerzo de otros. Por si se les había olvidado que la riqueza, que ellos despilfarran, solo tiene un origen: el trabajo.
Sin menosprecio de las laboriosas multitudes anónimas, quiero rendir homenaje a los genios que han hecho avanzar el conocimiento con su Ciencia, o la sensibilidad con su Arte, mujeres y hombres que han marcado la talla potencial de la humanidad. Para ello, entablaré con algunos de ellos un dialogo pictórico, dibujando sus rostros, tratando de percibir a través de sus rasgos y sus expresiones su mensaje creador, tesonero y voluntarioso.
Comenzaré evocando a Marie Curie.
En las fotografías que de ella tenemos aparece frágil, vestida con una sencillez que roza la pobreza. Sin embargo, sus ojos fijos y serenos revelan un carácter fuerte, guiados por una firme determinación.
Estos rasgos se ven plenamente confirmados por su vida, que conocemos en detalle por su hija Eva, y que fue un camino jalonado por el esfuerzo hacia sus objetivos y la abnegación para sus semejantes.

Pilgrims in human endeavour (I).
Embezzlers, social climbers and all types of impostors who call themselves successful (summing up, politicians of whatever the wing and sphere), characterise these times. I would like to remind these exploiters and sinister scoundrels that their welfare depends on someone else’s effort. Just a little memo to them: the wealth they squander only comes from true, real toil and trouble.
Without belittling the efforts of thousands of anonymous people, I would like to pay tribute to all those geniuses who have improved human knowledge with their scientific contributions or have grown collective sensibility out of their art: women and men who have set what type of intellectual heights mankind potential can achieve. I will try to strike a pictorial dialog up with them by drawing their faces, attempting to unveil from their features and looks their message of creativity and perseverance.
I will start evoking Marie Curie.
In the pictures we have from her, she looks fragile and so modestly dressed that nearly borders penury. However, her serene and determined look reveals a strong character with a great sense of commitment. Her life – which we know from a biography her daughter Eva wrote – confirms these personality features. A life full of effort and noble devotion to her fellow humans.
